GhostNot for Freelancers

Stop prepping for calls that never happen.

Discovery calls, project kickoffs, revision reviews — every no-show costs you time you could have spent on billable work. GhostNot makes clients commit before they book.

As a freelancer, your calendar is your inventory. Every hour blocked for a client call is an hour you can't bill elsewhere. When a prospect books a discovery call and ghosts you, you lose twice: the prep time and the opportunity cost. GhostNot asks clients to place a small, fully refundable stake when they book your time. Show up, get refunded. No-show, you get compensated. It's the professional boundary your freelance practice has been missing.

Built for how freelancers work

Discovery call filter

A $20 refundable stake on a free discovery call eliminates the biggest freelancer time-waster: prospects who book calls with five different freelancers and show up to one. You only meet with people serious enough to commit a small deposit to the conversation.

Project kickoff protection

Kickoff meetings require real preparation — reviewing briefs, setting up project boards, researching the client's business. Protect that investment with a stake proportional to the prep work involved. Clients who value your preparation will have no issue with a refundable commitment.

Reputation that travels with you

Your GhostNot trust score works across every client relationship. As you build a track record of keeping meetings, your score rises — and clients can see you're reliable too. It's a mutual accountability system that professionalizes freelance relationships.

Frequently asked questions

Won't this make me look unprofessional to potential clients?

The opposite. Asking for a refundable commitment signals that your time has value — which is exactly the message you want to send to prospective clients. High-quality clients respect professionals who set boundaries. The ones who balk at a fully refundable stake were unlikely to respect your time (or pay your rates) anyway.

What stake amount should I set for different meeting types?

Most freelancers set $15-25 for free discovery calls, $25-50 for project kickoff meetings, and $10-15 for recurring check-ins with established clients. The key is matching the stake to the prep time and opportunity cost. A 15-minute intro call needs less protection than a 60-minute deep-dive you spent an hour preparing for.

I work with clients in different countries. Does this handle international payments?

Yes. GhostNot processes stakes through Stripe, which supports payments from over 135 countries and dozens of currencies. Your international clients can place a stake with their local payment method, and you receive compensation in your preferred currency.

What if a client needs to reschedule instead of cancel?

Rescheduling within your allowed cancellation window automatically carries the stake to the new time slot — the client doesn't need to pay again. If they reschedule after the cancellation deadline, you can choose whether to honor the reschedule or treat it as a late cancellation. You control the policy.
