How to Add No-Show Protection to Calendly in 2 Minutes

·3 min read

You love Calendly (or Cal.com, or Acuity). You don't want to switch. You just want people to actually show up. Good news: you don't have to switch. GhostNot wraps your existing scheduling link with a commitment layer — requesters pay a small refundable stake before they can pick a time on your calendar.

How It Works

GhostNot acts as a gate in front of your scheduling tool. Instead of sharing your raw Calendly link, you share your GhostNot booking link. The flow looks like this:

  1. Requester visits your GhostNot link (e.g., ghostnot.com/book/your-name)
  2. They pay a small refundable stake ($5–$50, you choose)
  3. After payment, they're automatically redirected to your Calendly to pick a time
  4. Show up → money returned. No-show → you get paid.

No code changes on your Calendly. No migration. Just paste your scheduling URL into GhostNot and start sharing.

Step-by-Step Setup (Under 2 Minutes)

Step 1: Create your GhostNot account

Sign up for free. You'll be taken through a quick onboarding flow.

Step 2: Paste your scheduling URL

During onboarding, you'll see a field for your scheduling tool URL. Paste your Calendly link (or Cal.com, Acuity, SavvyCal — any scheduling URL works). If you already have an account, go to Settings → External Scheduling and paste it there.

Step 3: Set your stake amount

Choose how much requesters must commit. Common amounts:

  • $5 — Low friction, works for casual discovery calls
  • $10–25 — Sweet spot for most consultants and coaches
  • $50+ — For high-value sessions (legal, executive coaching)

The stake is fully refunded when the requester shows up. It's not a fee — it's a commitment device.

Step 4: Share your GhostNot link

Replace your Calendly link everywhere: email signature, website, LinkedIn, social bios. Your new link is ghostnot.com/book/your-slug. You can also embed a badgeon your website that shows you're protected by GhostNot.

What About Trust Scores?

As requesters book and attend meetings, they build a trust score. People with high trust scores can get reduced or waived stakes — so your regular clients aren't inconvenienced. New or unknown requesters still need to stake, which is exactly who you want accountability from.

Works With Any Scheduling Tool

While we used Calendly as the example, the URL wrapper works with any scheduling tool that has a booking URL:

  • Calendly
  • Cal.com
  • Acuity Scheduling
  • SavvyCal
  • HubSpot Meetings
  • Any URL-based booking system

Why Not Just Use Calendly's Built-In Features?

Calendly offers reminders and confirmations, which help with forgetfulness. But they don't address the core issue: some people simply don't prioritize your time. A refundable stake creates real accountability. It shifts the cost of a no-show from you to the person who doesn't show up — which is exactly where it belongs.
